| Frequently Asked Questions!
Q: Where'd the name 'Exiled Heir' come from? A: Well, it comes from the novel I've been working on for ten years (I may post some of my notes for it on this site). The main character is heir to the throne and she's been exiled at the beginning of the book. It also has vast spiritual meaning and other random meanings that only make sense to me. | Q: I want a place to post my stories too! Can I join you here? A: Well, I do have five e-mail addresses, but only if I happen to know you. In the event that perhaps I don't know you, but I really, really like your stories...sure. Otherwise, go to www.fictionpress.com and set up an account there. It's free and it's really easy to use. You can post as many stories as you want there. | Q: I like your characters! Can I draw pictures of them and send them to you? And would you perhaps post my artwork on your site? A: Of course! Send them to museless@exiledheirstudios.com! I love artwork and I really wish I could draw, but alas, I cannot. Anyway, I welcome any artwork you want to send me so long as it's free of nudity. And if I recieve artwork I'll create a section for it and put your name next to it so you can proudly proclaim to all your pals that you drew that awesome piece of art that could rival Monet. | Q: What's the point of this place? A: Meh...I would think it's obvious. But, here's a dandy explanation: I created this site for fun so I can display my stories to whoever wants to read them. Everyone else in the world has a personal web site, why can't I? | Q: Do the stories on this site have a copyright? A: Yes they do. If you steal my stories you will be sued. | Q: I can't figure out how to start a story. What do you do when you want to start something new or when your just writing in general? A: Well, first of all, there's no magic formula when it comes to writing. Everyone has different views and different ways to go about starting an finishing a story. Sadly, my way may not work for you. But here you go anyway: Normally I get a story idea while I'm at work. This is annoying because I never have anything to write it down on, but I still carry a notepad in my purse for when I have a chance. Most of the time, however, I just remember it when I get home to my laptop. Often I just sit down and start writing because I'm spontanious like that. I know people who make an outline first. Whatever works for you. I play music in the background when I write. Most often it's classical, but I do have playlists for certain stories. Any sort of music that's inspiring to you will work. I also am fond of drinking tea or coffee while I write. For some odd reason it clears my head. I don't know why. Make sure you're writing in a quiet place. That always helps. Don't ever force yourself to work on a story when you can't. Chances are you'll waste hours writing crap that you'll later erase. Why not spend those hours doing something else. There is no secret way to get rid of a writer's block, it just happens. Be patient and try to find something that inspires you or work on another project all together. Write about things you like. Don't worry about research, you can fix things later. If all else fails and you still want to write, try sitting down with a pencil and one blank sheet of paper. Give yourself five minutes and start writing WHATEVER comes to your mind. At the end of five minutes read what you read and you might find something that sparks your interest. You can also use this exercise to write down a bunch of random, original titles for five minutes. Sometimes just a title can spark a story. I hope this odd little ramble has helped at least a little! If you have any more questions, e-mail me (museless@exiledheirstudios.com) and I'll see what I can do. I love helping new writers. In fact, I used to teach an elementary school creative writing class so I have tons of little exercises that help the creative flow. |
